Lady Grey Arts Academy: January 2015

The new year started off on a high note for the Lady Grey Arts Academy.  The 2014 NCS results were outstanding and our congratulations go to all these students who had achieved superb results in spite of a very busy schedule.

We celebrate the achievements of the Grade 12 class of 2014 who have improved on both the number of subject distinctions and the number who attained a Bachelor’s Pass in 2013. In fact, they have exceeded the achievements of the last 4 years in these areas.

We especially applaud the excellent achievements of the following two individuals:

Kamvelihle Cuba obtained 88% in Mathematics, and 83% in both Physical Sciences and Life Sciences.  He also achieved 72% in Design.

Ridge Vorster obtained 83% in Dramatic Arts and 80% in Afrikaans Eerste Addisionele Taal and achieved between 70% and 80% in all her other subjects.

Usanda Nyengule also obtained a 70% aggregate with 72% in Business Studies, 77% in Dramatic Arts, 78% in Accounting and 79% in Life Orientation.

The Lady Grey Arts Academy is usually a hive of activity throughout the year and many of these students who have achieved top results have also been fully committed in other aspects of the school. Their collective contribution to the school over the years has been considerable and they have finished solidly with these excellent results.  We salute them on their achievements and will follow their passage through university and beyond with interest.

The beginning of a new school year marks a time of change, excitement and for some the beginning of many great things; this year is no different.  We welcome all the new Pre-Grade R, Grade R and Grade 1 learners who are beginning their educational journey at the Lady Grey Arts Academy.  We are also very excited to welcome back all our learners and educators.

This year the Academy is proud to introduce the following new staff members:

Miss Marcelle Botha will teach Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the GET Phase.  She completed her B.Ed studies at the University of the Free State in 2014.

Mr Vernon Francis, a former student at the Academy, will teach Technology and Afrikaans in the GET phase.  Mr Francis also studied B.Ed at the University of the Free State.

Mrs. Karen Vorster will teach Music in the Primary School.  She studied B.Mus at the University of Stellenbosch and taught at Christian Brothers College in Bloemfontein for the past eight years. She will also be involved in training the Junior Choir.
